Admissions
Reception Admissions
When can my child start school?
Your child can start school full-time in a reception class in the September of the academic year in which they become five. For September admissions, dates of birth should fall between:
1st September
and
31st August
How do I apply for a Reception place?
You must make an application even if your child is currently attending a nursery class or has an elder brother or sister attending the school.
You can apply to a school via the following methods:
Online at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/admissions - you will receive your decision by email
Who can apply?
Anyone with parental responsibility for a child. We expect parents to agree on school places before an application is made, and may demand evidence from you that this is the case. The local authority is not in a position to intervene in disputes between parents over school applications and will demand that these are resolved privately.
When should I apply?
You must apply for a school place for your child between November and January. Applications received after the closing date may only be considered after those applications that were received on time have been dealt with and may result in your child not being dealt with and may result in your child not being admitted to your preferred school/s.
When is the Closing Date?
Please visit the Staffordshire County Council website for details on the closing date.
